Back in 2019, Netgear discovered that the software engineers had assumed that the Orbi firmware image would never grow larger than a certain size and built a check into the firmware update software to reject any image greater than that size.
Alas, the image DID grow larger, and was rejected by the update routine. Netgear released a special version of firmware where the only thing it did was remove that size limit. This version has to be installed manually on both satellite and router before they will accept any newer version. See:
