The traditional suggestion for investigating network issues is to connect a computer directly to the ISP device and attempt to replicate the problem. That removes the user WiFi system. If the problem occurs without the user WiFi system in place, then it cannot be the cause. If the problem does not occur when the WiFi system is removed, that puts more focus on the WiFi system.
For something trivial like confirming a Speed Test, this experiment might take only a few minutes and not seriously disrupt the household. For this sort of issue, it might be tricky to find an appropriate time when everything in the house an lose internet access for long enough to perform a proper experiment. I would want to run the experiment for at least 30 minutes at a minimum. (Unless, of course, the problem pops up immediately which puts the focus on the network.)
Another test could be to set up a process to ping somewhere on the internet one a second and record the results. hrping, for example, is free software for Windows ( https://www.cfos.de/en/ping/ping.htm ) that will run indefinitely and save the results to a file. One ping/second is a trivial amount of bandwidth and even several hours of data will result in a small file. I would ping a public resource, such as Google DNS (8.8.8.8)
If run on a different computer, this would substantiate that the gaming software is reporting an actual network issue, rather than the PC running the gaming software having a problem.
