I would like to thank everyone for their contributions.
After studying further, I came to the conclusion that connecting the router with an AP is not the best solution for me, since I will lose one of the great advantages of having a wesch network where you can move between environments and the device will automatically connect to the best node on the network.
I bought wrong. I will try to sell and buy new ones, now taking care to buy right.

There is an option to convert an RBR50 to an RBS50 but it isn't on the official netgear site and isn't even slightly recommened or supported. Theres a good (great) chance you brick your device. If you're so inclined. google is your friend in this.
