I guess I don't see how the SB6190 cable modem could be causing the issue if only rebooting the Orbi RBR50 solved the issues I had this morning.

ssgtweasel , you're not alone running into Orbi DNS bug.  There are several threads with similar issues.  There's no fix from NG yet, but there are few workarounds.  Here is an example of a good workaround until the real fix is released:
