RBR50 new setup - orbi50test

Hi all,

I have received a new RBR50 base station to replace my failed unit.  When setting it up, not only did I get "Invalid QR code" when scanning with the camera, a manual setup wants to connect to something called orbi50test with a password... which I don't have.  I used the password from the underside of the Orbi, but that apparently doesn't work.

My original base station, when setting up from new, did not behave like this.  It was a breeze to setup.  Not this time however.

I deleted the mobile app, including any data it held about my old setup, and downloaded the app anew.  I'm installing the base station with no satellites - I'll add those later - but things aren't behaving.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Kim.

When installing a single RBR50 (router, base unit, etc.) the user has no idea whether it was previously used by someone else and returned.  The reasonable thing to do is to Factory Reset the unit, which will return the WiFi credentials to those printed on the product label and will set the Orbi web browser credentials to "admin" and "password".

Most of the regular participants on the forum prefer using the web browser interface to configure the router.  With more and more customers having no desktop or laptop computer, the Orbi 'app' is becoming a sort of 'default' setup method.

      Thanks for the reply.  🙂👍

Yeah... I figured that it may not have been "new" new.  😀

I had to perform a few factory resets before it finally settled down.  The printed QR code still refused to work, but setting up manually did the job.  It's now up and working.

I found that I also had to delete/download/reinstall the iPhone app twice.  It was getting ahead of itself and trying to do things that it wasn't in the correct state to do.  2nd time however was perfect.

      Thanks again for your assistance.

      Cheer, Kim.
