RBR50 Slow Wifi Speeds?

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my RBR50, or perhaps in the settings?

We just had new gigabit internet (Fios) installed yesterday: and using the carrier's WiFi Router I'm able to get 10-20x the speed (500-600mbps vs 20-30mbps). Everything is as equal as can be when comparing (same devices, same locations, etc, etc).

The problem is that the Verizon router loses signal quickly as you go to the corners of my house, whereas the Orbi tends to have great signal even going to the outside edges of my yard.

I have the Orbi setup in AP mode, with the Other Router's wifi all shut off.

Could it be the RBR50 is just showing its age? I'm not sure if I should be considering a new Orbi system, or exploring a range extender with Verizon...

Check that you are not doing double routing, i.e., Double NAT (carrier is a router and your Orbi is also a router, not in AP mode): https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WiFi-6-AX-and-WiFi-6E-AXE/Community-FAQ-My-Orbi-speeds-are-slow-inconsistent-and-don-t-my/m-p/1984305/highlight/true#M7944

    Hello czhong,

    Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!

I understand that you are having issues with your RBR50 network speed. Changing the DNS for your RBR50 has been proven to resolve this issue in some cases.

Please navigate to the following settings on Orbilogin.com to change your DNS settings:

    • BASIC
    • Internet
    • "Use these DNS servers"
    • For primary DNS enter to following IPv4 address: 8.8.8.8.
    • For secondary DNS enter the following IPv4 address 8.8.4.4.
    • Click "APPLY"

(Please conduct a speed test after the DNS has been modified.)

    Best,

    Kevin
