RBR50 used as AP behind wired router - can PC connect to RBR50 via CAT5?

Hi,

I'm using RBR50 systems as router and wifi access point.

I plan to incorporate a wired router in front of the orbi and use orbi in access point mode.

Can I still plug my PC into the Orbi's LAN port with ethernet cable? Will this slow down the network?

I'm not able to plug the PC into the wired router's LAN port at this time because I don't have a cable run.

Separately, can I run an ethernet cable from the wired router's LAN port to Apple TV 4K device too (I do have a cable run)?

Thanks!

Yes you can for both questions.

CAT6 lan cabling is recommeneded, not cat5.

If you need more LAN ports you can always add a Gb LAN switch to the back of the main host router.

Thank you for the quick and helpful reply.

The current orbi is in router mode. As far as the proper sequence of

      * switching the Orbi to AP mode

      * placing the new wired router in service

      * pluging the orbi AP into the new router's LAN port

Is there a specific sequence I should follow?

      Thanks!
