RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Latest firmware v2.5.1.16 on RBK53 in AP mode. No new surprises yet. Everything seems to be in order and working. If you took the plunge, please share your experiences.

Ever since the Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update my WIFI is cutting off every 5 minutes. The outage last only 10-15 seconds which is long enought to destroy connectivity to my many IoT devices. Can someone please give me a work around or solution?
I am considering throwing my $600 Netgear WIFI in the trash and starting over. I work from home and can not tolerate this level of service.

Sir
I have the same issues
support will not help you
management will not help you
i have filed in my local county court a lawsuit against netgear for the amount of money I have paid for this Orbi garbage
it is absolute trash

You are not alone. The Orbi firmware is extremely unstable. I returned mine due to it not meeting advertises specifications. I replaced it with an Asus ZenWiFi AIMesh system and it works so much better, The only issue it has is that any guest networks only broadcast from the base router, they are not replicated on the satellites. Supposedly a firmware fix for this issue will be released soon.
- WrathofKonSep 20, 2020TutorSo since I have upgraded I have had no issues.
You could also look at alternative firmware. There are options out there that people really like. I might consider it in the future.

I also have not had any issues with v16 FW.
Users should try a factory reset and setup from scratch to see if the problem continues. There is also newer FW out as well that users can try:
You can try Voxels FW for Orbi:

You can revert back to stock FW if it doesn't work out for you.

Why not revert back to the old firmware?

Update working for me. Strange issue is the Satellites no longer can determine the attached devices names. They only show IP and MAC addresses of attached devices, yet the router knows and displays them. The satellites displayed the device names before the update.
Still annoying that attached devices can be sorted when being displayed. Seems a simple programming task to be able to sort the list...
