RBR50V2 won't allow my Blink 2 module to connect
I have worked with Blink to replace my Module 2 twice. My original Module disconnected in the middle of the night and I haven't been able to connect the newer two that Blink sent me since then. Blink...

OK I’m sorry I wasn’t too clear. When you set up a Blink Module scan a QR code on the back of the module and ask to join the Blink Wi-Fi system you click on that when it tries to hook up to Blink it stops right there and says unable to connect to Blink Wi-Fi. That’s as far as I get. The way a Blink Module is set up you connect to their Wi-Fi server and then once you’ve done that it allows you to go and connect to your system and then it’s set up. Unfortunately I never get past the point where it won’t let me connect to the Blink system .
I have worked with the Blink/Amazon people for four or five hours and of course their accents are a little hard to understand but we always end up at the point where they say it sounds like your system is having a Hardware issue. We will send you a new Blink Module, and they have done that twice.

This pretty much confirms that it has nothing to do with the Orbi system.
- I believe there is an alternative method to configure the Blink module using the product serial number rather than the QR code..
Does that fail as well? - Is there a way to reset the Blink module (button or tiny hole somewhere on the case)?
- Try disabling and re-enabling WiFi on the smartphone?
- If the Blink module is powered on and broadcasting a WiFi signal, then that signal should appear on the list of available WiFi systems. I believe it should be "BLINK" plus the last four digits of the serial number:
Does this WiFi name appear on the list of available WiFi networks? It will not be possible to connect to the Blink without using the app because only the app will know the correct password. But, the WiFi network should be present.
- plblytheAug 19, 2023AspirantThe Blink doesn’t show up in my WiFi either way. I went to the allowed MAC addresses and added that but to no avail

This part of the configuration has nothing to do with the Orbi WiFi. That tiny Blink module 2 creates a WiFi access point with the name "BLINK"+4 digits. After the smartphone app connects to the Blink module, the app will tell it to scan for available WiFi networks. During the first step, that tiny WiFi access point should be visible to any WiFi device that is looking to connect to WiFi. (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.) It will not appear to the Orbi because it has not reached the step of connecting to the Orbi. Fussing with Access Control is not relevant.
Until the Blink module creates that tiny WiFi access point, the smartphone app cannot proceed to the next step
What I am suggesting is to use some WiFi device to detect if the Blink module has created its tiny WiFi access point.
- If the Blink has created a WiFi access point, but the Blink app is not finding it, then there is a problem on the smartphone that is running the Blink app.
- If the Blink has not created a WiFi access point, then the problem is with the Blink module.
The home WiFi network is not relevant to the problem until the smartphone app has connected to the Blink module.
My money is on the smartphone being the cause. If Amazon has sent two replacement Blink modules and the smartphone app cannot connect to either one, my focus would be on using a different device to set up the Blink module.
- plblytheAug 20, 2023AspirantI have used my fire tablet to see if the blink shows up. It does but it still will not allow me past the trying to connect with the blink which it never does

Well now I am just stumped. Both Blink and Fire are Amazon products. This web page says that the Blink app is available for Fire tablets:
https://support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/getting-started-sync-module/setting-up-your-sync-module-2
Until the Blink app can connect to the Blink module 2, it cannot proceed to the step of selecting which WiFi network the Blink module 2 should join.
This makes no sense.
