Yes Orbi in AP mode and I have aded two of the Satelites - one more to go.
Didnt really want the main Orbi in the comms cabinet, but can live with that - may need to buy a 4th Satelite - see how we go,.
So again thanks.

What openreach modem are you using? Many of these are modem/router combo devices.
And then you have the Vigor which has its own routing.
And then you have the orbi.
You should be able to get the orbi on the same subnet as the vigor but you have to ensure you're not having more than 1 device acting in router mode.

Sorry - the OpenReach is just a modem with no configuration options. It is old but everything works, apart from the Orbi.

do you have its model number?
Did you ever try factory resetting the vigor?
starting back from stock with everything?

No I havent reset the vigor to factory - to reset it up would take some time. I could factory reset and restore the configuration but then I dont see how that would help. It works. And the cure could be worse than the disease.
The clue to me is where the odd ip address is comming from. After the switch to AP mode the Orbi gives all wifi clients an ip in the 169.254.46.* range. I only have 1 dhcp server and that gives all in the 192.168.1.* range.

In AP mode, the orbi shouldn't be giving IP addresses at all.
That should be all handled by the vigor.
