RBS40 power adapter physical specification
I want to extend the power adapter that came with the RBS40 but am at a loss with the exact size of the plug. I thought it was a 2.1x5.5 mm male plug but I've order two different ones on AMAZON and ...
Amazon just delievered my 12v extension cables 5.5*2.1mm:

My calipers measure the stock power supply (male end) at between 5.47 and 5.53mm. This extension cable also measures between 5.47 and 5.53mm. (My hands are shaky or something.) The stock power supply is plugged into the female end and the male end plugged into my Orbi. Orbi powered up and I am logged into it.
There is always a chance that Netgear designed the RBS40 to have a different power socket, but the Nerd in me asks, "Why???" All those Amazon listings say they work with almost every Orbi ever made. Can you give your cables another try?
Harbor Freight will sell a set of calipers for very little.
Thanks. Have you tried to plug in the male end? I bought from Amazon two different makes of the same cable in white but could not plug them into the router. The plug is different though it is 5.5 x 2.1. The plug has a small center that wraps aroung the center of the female jack. It will not accept this type of male jack.
I looked at your purchase online and it appears to have the same kind of male plug.

Yes, I unplugged the power cable, plugged the male power cable into the female end of the extension and then plugged the male end of the extension into the Orbi female socket. There are tiny springs inside the female sockets which require the male plugs to be inserted with a bit of force, and which also 'grip' the plug so it won't fall out easily.
