I looked at your purchase online and it appears to have the same kind of male plug.
Yes, I unplugged the power cable, plugged the male power cable into the female end of the extension and then plugged the male end of the extension into the Orbi female socket. There are tiny springs inside the female sockets which require the male plugs to be inserted with a bit of force, and which also 'grip' the plug so it won't fall out easily.

RBS40 Power Adapter PlugHi: I've attached photos of the plug and jack on a RBS40. Notice the jack is not the same as a normal 2.1X5.5 power jack.
