RBS40 Randomly Disconnects
I have a RBR40 with a single RBS40 satellite. When it works, it's fine. But randomly the satellite drops off the network. I use it mostly to support a smart TV (connected by cable to the satellite). ...

This problem continues to occur (random disconnects).
Hardware is Orbi RBR40 router, RBS40 satellite.
Model RBK40-100NAS
Router Firmware Version V2.7.4.24
Searching for my product on Support link here gives null results.
Searching for similar issues on Community page here gives no useful advice.
Detail of recovery process (I use the Orbit app on my phone):
- Orbi app shows satellite not connected
- Power cycle satellite
- Use Orbi app to add satellite
- Satellite starts with no light, then is blue for a while. At the end of the process, the satellite has no light.
- At the end of the process, the Orbi app says it could not find any satellite. But then I go back to the TV, hit 'enter' on the main control, and service is restored.
- Orbi app now shows satellite is connected. There is no light glowing on the satellite. Everything functions fine, download speed is good.

You missed this bit:
If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that sits between this router and the Internet.
Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.- MJMackowskiMay 09, 2024Guide
There is a Cox-provided modem, Arris model TM3402A with a single ehternet port connected directly to the Orbi router. So that just looks like a modem, no router function that I can see. Note that we just had this modem replaced a month ago as internet speeds occasionally dropped to very low levels. But the Orbi satellite drop outs have been occurring for over a year.
Thanks
