RBS50 firmware
Received email from netgear of firmware updates for satellites and router to 2.3.5.34 (RBR 40) and 2.5.1.8 for (RBS50). My current firmware for (RBR40) is 2.3.5.34 (no update needed) but my RBS50...

For RBS50, updating would be prudent. As long as your RBR40 is running well, leave that were it's at. You can manually apply v2.5.1.8 to the RBS and it will work for you. If you seem to run into problems with the RBS after the update, factory reset the RBS50 and re-sync it.

My current firmware for (RBR40) is 2.3.5.34 (no update needed) but my RBS50 is running 2.3.5.30 according to my system when I have it check for updates. And the check tells me nothing needs to be updated, router or satellite (I have 3 satellites, two RBS20s and one RBS50).
My question is how can my RBS50 firmware # be so far off? How do the update numbers run? Is 2.5.1.8 more current than 2.3.5.30? What portion of the number should I focus on the 2.5.... or the .30 at the end? Don't know whether I should do the update on the satellite or not. Can I in fact go from 2.3.5.30 to 2.5.1.8?
Thanks so much,
Phyllis
