RBS50 slow when connecting direct to Openreach ONT
Hi all So I'm based on the UK and have signed up to Vodafone on a 900MB line FTTP, when I connect the ONT to the vodafone Router to my Orbi (put into AP mode) I get the full 900 mb speed as expe...

Let the ONT handle the PPPoE connection. Leave the RBR in DHCP mode while in router mode with the ONT.
- paperlaiMar 14, 2024AspirantIs that possible? Was speaking to Vodafone and they said the router connected to the ONT needs to connect via the PPoE. Hence they gave me username and password for orbi to use.
Or is there a way to tell the ONT the details?
Thanks- FURRYe38Mar 14, 2024Guru - Experienced User
PPPoE has never had good performances. Even on Orbi.
Kind of odd that the ONT isn't able to do the PPPoE configuration. I would think the ONT should be able to handle this however possible there services require separate ONT and Router configuration and router needs to handle that. Does the ISP have a separate router system they support of there own? Something to try there router and see.

When I take out the router and rely on orbi to do the PPoE the speed (using the same cable that went into the isp router) slows down to 500-600mb, hence was wondering what's causing the slowdown, must be a setting in the orbi
