Mesh WiFi systems are designed as a package where multiple WiFi devices for a network. The communication between devices is proprietary by brand. i.e the various mesh systems work with each other, but not with devices from a different brand.
The Netgear RBS50 satellite will integrate with any of the original Orbi WiFi5 routers (RBR50, RBR40, RBR20) but not with anything else, and certainly not with a Verizon WiFi router.
Some manufacturers designed their mesh system where all units are identical. Any of them can be the unit connected to the internet and the rest can be connected to that unit to form a WiFi mesh. Netgear designed their mesh WiFi where one unit is the "router" connected to the internet and the others are "satellites" which must be connected to the router.
