RBR50 connection issues with Router only 100MBit
Dear users, I have a connection issue between Orbi RBR50 and the Router. After upgrading to Fiberglass (500 MBit) I have connected the RBR50 via a Cat7 cable to the Router (Telekom Speedport Smar...

I am sure you will be laughing....
I placed an 1GB switch in between, so connected the CAT 7 cable to the switch and then with a CAT5e cable to the RBR50 - it connected with 1 Gbps!
Okay, assuming the CAT7 cable is not accepted by the Orbi, I connected it with a CAT 7 cable to the switch and now I expected again to have it connected at 100Mbps, but no, it is also connected with 1Gbps.
I do not have an answer to that strange behaviour. It seems as it just did not like directly been connected with the Router with that CAT7 cable. I just could not change the CAT 7 cable because it is in the wall.
Nevertheless, thank you very much FURRYe38 for the idea solving that issue.
By the way, I always forgot to say, that the Firmware is the newest, 2.7.5.4.

OK that helps.
So the RBR is in AP mode. And on the WAN port of the RBR it's only connecting at 100Mbps?

Correct! That is the strange issue.

Would be curious, do you have a 1Gb non managed switch around that you could connect the RBR to to see if the WAN port will connect at 1000Mpbs?
Could temporarily connect any wired PC to the WAN port on the RBR and review the connection rate seen on the PCs ethernet adapter to see if the adapter is connected to the RBR WAN port at 1000Mbps. Disconnect after testing.
If a switch or PC shows 1000Mbps, then the issue may not be the RBR, rather what the RBR is connecting too.

Glad is working now. Ya, some odd behavior or possible sub standard cable.
I'd also change out the CAT5 cable in between the media convert unit and the ISP router. CAT6A STP would be recommended. What I use.
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
