rbr50 v2
I have an RBR50v2 with one satellite the firmware is the latest available. The router is connected to our HTC fiber to premises modem device via its ethernet port. We pay for 300Mbps speed up and d...
- Sep 14, 2022Thank you for your help. It looks as if it is the switch that went bad ( thankfully not an Orbi) a direct wire connection without the switch (used house wire) to the satellite and everything is working again. Getting 295 Mbps wifi again.
I will have to see if I can relocate the Orbi router out of a closet where the builder installed our wire closet. Hopefully then the backhaul connection can be wifi. For now. I'm happy to get the wifi up and running!!
Thanks again for your help.

I'm now trying direct wired connection with just house wiring to the satellite.
Bypassing the switch is a good diagnostic step. The fact that the switch backhaul was reported as "Poor" is not good. It would be useful to know how the backhaul connection was reported: i.e. 5G, 2.4G, or Wired.
Another diagnostic test is to connect the satellite using a separate Ethernet patch cable. A 100ft. Ethernet cable can be purchased on Amazon for about $20. Drag the cable through the house from the router to the satellite. If it suddenly connects "Good - Wired", then the house wiring is suspect. The cable testers typically used by contractors verify only the the correct pins have been connected, not the the cable run meets specifications. (Such a tester costs hundreds of dollars. for example, the Fluke 5018508 is about $650:
Often the actual cable is fine, but the cable terminations are not.
