Router doesn't recognize external USB hard drive on my PC or MAC

My old setup was an Airport Extreme and with that I could plug in a USB external hard drive and be able to see and mount that drive on my Mac Laptop. I never could see the drives on my PC.   Now ...

This is a frequently requested feature (check the forums). The USB port only supports printers right now

Are there any plans for Netgear to make the USB port into something than just supporting printers?
