Hello, For the past couple of months my satellite has been losing connection to the router once every couple of days (2nd time today though!) and there is no light on the satellite indicating any...

Great news!
Most of the time rebooting and resetting these devices eliminates the problems, that users are having, caused by the Orbi. Unfortunately they are so tired of hearing the suggestion ovrer and over, that they stay frustrated a lot longer than it takes to just do a Reboot or Factory Reset.

The satellite is about 25ft from the router but both have been in their place from the very beginning and it worked fine for the first 16 months or so.
I get the globe on the desktop with the LAN connection (need to check the IP address when it happens next) but also on my laptop that sits on my desk that connects to the satellite via WiFi. My wife with her laptop near the router (WiFi connection) keeps working without any issues.

When you get the globe on the desktop, go to your network settings and see what IP addreess your PC is on. If it is 169.x.x.x the PC is not getting an IP address from your DHCP server. If you are running Windows open a DOS prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns. You can also run troubleshooter. You also have the option of using a static ip address on the PC.
Have you reset and reconfigured the satellite to see if it corrects the problem?

I used ipconfig -all in a cmd and it does show a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address. ipconfig /flushdns did not change anything.
Using static IP addresses is not really an option since I have my company laptop connected at home as well as in the office which would require to change the setting all the time and we have a total of 16 devices connected to the network ...

Whenever the PC is stuck on a169 IP address, it usually means:
DHCP server is temporarily unavailablePC is not connected properly to the networkPC was not authorized to connect to the networkPC was unable to communicate with a DHCP serverRouter is in limbo, and needs to be rebootedWiFi or internet connection has failedTo rule out laptop and WIFI adapter:
Load device manager, go to menu/view and check show hidden devices
If you have multiple same devices, remove grey'd out devices, especially if network devices.
Go to and expand network devices and remove the WIFI network.
Then go to menu/actions and scan for hardware changes and let the WIFI adapter reinstall
See if that fixes the issue

I followed the instructions but it didn't solve the issue which isn't entirely a surprise because the satellite trips even without the laptop connected (or being turned on at all).
