Some observations.
- Unless there is some specific feature on the R7000 that you require/enjoy, the R7000 is not "getting you anything".
All it does is introduce another "hop" in the path. I doubt that the additional latency is large.
Since there is a switch right there, the additional ethernet port of the R7000 is not significant. - I am puzzled about the idea that Orbi is capable of supporting more devices than the R7000.
Would like to see a reference document.
If this is in regard to the size of the potential DHCP pool (1-250), I think that is misleading.
The things that put strain on a WiFi router are high bandwidth devices, not the total number of devices. - While I am very happy with the two Orbi systems I have installed (in different houses), one of the areas where the forum sees a lot of complaints is gaming. There are other WiFi routers which appear to be designed specifically to support gaming.
The strength of Orbi is WiFi coverage and separate 5G channel for backhaul between satellite and router.
