There is a difference between "Speed" and and "Signal Strength". Signal strength is always measured in dBmv and is always a negative number. The lower (more negative) the number, the lower the signal. There are programs for laptops and smartphones which will display the actual signal strength of the various Orbi routers (2.4G user, 5G user, 5G "backhaul") I, personally use WiFi Analyzer on my Android phone and Galaxy Tablet. Signal strength will always be lower the farther away the device is from the Orbi radio.
Download speed may be related to signal strength, but the relationship is not obvious. As long as the connection between Orbi and device is "good enough", the download speed will be a function of the ISP bandwidth and the Orbi internal processing capability. There are all sorts of posts remarking on the Orbi's inability to keep up with today's faster bandwidth. The Orbi product was designed in 2016, when 100mb connections were rare. Today, people routinely get gigabit connections, and the Orbi simply cannot process packets that fast. The new Orbi WiFi 6 product is supposed to handle much higher connections. (It also starts at $800 for a set!)
The problem was the maximum I can receive is 100. Anything over 100 didn't matter. The card maximum is 100.

The "card"? The modem? The device you were measuring speed with? (I understand the mystery is solved, but it would give me "closure" to understand. Thanks)
