Slow speed on RB50 on BT FTTP 900
Hello all, I am wondering whether anyone can shed some light on why my Orbi router only achieves speeds of around 460 mbps when connected directly to the BT open reach box on my wall when the hom...

Thank you for your help so far. I have updated the firmware. For some reason, the Orbi app said it wasn’t available, so had to sort hat manually. I am now the most recent.
I have changed the channels for 2.4 and 5ghz to what you suggest, but speed tests are the same 460Mbps.
I’m at a loss with this to be honest.

Are you testing speeds with a wireless device or a wired device. You should be seeing near 900Mpbs with a ethernet connected PC if it's connecting at 1000Mbps to the back of the router after a reset and setup from scratch. Don't enable Armor, Access Controls, Circle or Traffic Meter. Don't use a saved backup configuration file.
Wireless device, you'll not see much over 300-500Mpbs on 5Ghz AC due to limitations of devices and connections rates at 80Mhz seen here. Nature of this beast.
- SimonP71Sep 25, 2022AspirantHello. Thanks for the reply. No I am not testing via wireless. I understand the limitations of wireless connections.
I am testing at router level, using the Orbi router connected directly to fibre. I am running the speed test via the router option.- FURRYe38Sep 26, 2022Guru - Experienced User
Have you tested with a different wired pc to compare results?
- SimonP71Sep 26, 2022AspirantThe router has the capability to perform the speed-test itself via one of its inbuilt menu options. A device does not need to be physically connected. The speed test is performed at router level not via a connected device wireless / LAN.
What I am trying to establish is why when the router is run in AP mode and connected to the BT home hub it is capable of running at 900Mbps (speed test results) but when the BT home hub is removed completely and the router is then run in router mode and connected directly to fibre, router speeds plummet to 460Mbps (speed test results)
Thanks.
