Slow speeds
Hi. I have an RBR50 Orbi router, admittedly somewhat old. I recently received a new Comcast/Xfinity modem, and am supposed to have speeds up to 800mb. When I check my speed using the Xfinity modem without the Orbi, i'm getting around 250-400mb. However, when I use the Orbi connection, that speed drops to less than 100mb.
Has anyone else experienced a similar sharp drop in download speeds while using an Orbi? Do people think it is the age of the device, or something else occuring? I'm open for suggestions, advice, etc.
Thanks very much,
Peter

A couple things.
1. what xfinity modem is it?
2. hardiwired into the modem, you should be able to get the full speeds you pay. I'd focus on getting that full speed, then move onto the orbi.
3. What firmware is on the orbi?
4. how are you testing speeds? Wired? wireless? built in app? Seperate controls?
You can find some speed diagnostic instructions here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WiFi-6-AX-and-WiFi-6E-AXE/Community-FAQ-My-Orbi-speeds-are-slow-inconsistent-and-don-t-my/m-p/1984305/highlight/true#M7944. If you just connected your Orbi to your Xfinity router, you likely have Double NAT and that can account for the speed difference (drop).
