Slow Wired Speeds RBK50
This is really frustrating. The best speed I can get on a wired connection at the router is 539 up/495 down
| Firmware Version | V2.5.1.16 |
| GUI Language Version | V1.0.0.375 |
I think I have tried everything. Here is what I have done so far:
I have 1Gigabit from ATT. At the router I am getting over 900 up/900/down. Here are my test results:
- sattelite directly to the ATT Modem via ethernet: 700 up/892 dn
- netgear 8 port switch directly to the ATT Modem: 700 up/913 dn
- sattelite connected to orbi router - ethernet backhaul: 442 up/510 dn
after resets 1 & 2. No change in speeds.
After changing to AP mode. No chanve in speeds.
After disabling daisy chain. No change in speeds.
FYI best wireless speeds 1 ft from Orbi Router is (5g connection) 398 up/290 dn
Wifi speeds connecting to ATT Wifi: 877 up/910 dn
Something is off with the Orbi router. Unless there is something that I am missing this thing is going back.

Having a router in front of the Orbi will cause problems. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktopI would factory reset the RBR and setup fron scratch. Do not enable Armor, Access Controls, Circle, QoS or Traffic Meter. Speed test with a wired PC using Ooklas installable speed test app.
Orbi does work for near 900Mpbs however depends on ISP Modem. Gatway routers are NOT recommended.
