Smart TV connecting to satellite further away than router
May Samsung smart Tv seems to be connecting to my satellite RBS50 on 5hz that has weaker signal than if it attached to my router RBR59 that is nearer. How can I improve its connection. Ollie

FURRYe38 suggestions all are good ideas.
Another though also comes down to your house. 5ghz doesn't have as good a penetration as 2.4ghz. If something in between the main orbi RBR50 and your tv is blocking its signal (such as hvac, foil lined insulation, or if you're a floor apart and it adds more material to pass through) the orbi is going to see that the connection to the satellite is better and go with that. Is that a possiblity within your home?
Is there an issue or is your tv streaming ok but you're just curious why its not connecting to the closer device?

A smart TV is one of those devices called "Sticky Devices" that is, once those devices connect to an AP they keep connected to that AP until the AP's signal completely disappears, those devices can't choose and roam to APs with better signal.
So if for example while the TV is on, the router's signal disappears (for any reason) the TV will connect to the Satellite and keep connected to it and will never change from it until the satellite copletely stops transmitting.
Only when the TV is turned on the first time the TV will look for the AP with the better signal, attach to it and keep attached to it. So if you want the TV to change from Satellite to Router, switch it off, wait for few minutes until it detaches from Orbi then turn it on again.
