so i was getting all the premium features of the circle for free until this firmware update?

Am i reading correctly that since i Netgear upgraded the firmware, i now have to pay $5 per month for the same parental control features I got for free prior to the firmware update???   it seems that i got the old bait and switch here and I need to either ditch the orbi or circle or both?   Am I understanding this correctly?
