SSH between connected computers

I am trying to ssh between two computers that are connected to my router.  Both are wired connections, but when I ssh I get connection timed out.  Is there something I need to enable to allow ssh between computers?

    If both are connected to the same router, they're connected to a layer 2 switch, so there's no firewalling - sounds like the host you're trying to ssh into is blocking via iptables at the system level.
