I suggest sending a private message to KevinLiT (by clicking on his screen name and selecting "Send Private Message") and explain the details (who you are. what product you own - with serial number, and the specifics of the email address and error message).  Moderators have connections with the Netgear department that manages the user database.

It could be something as simple as you got part way through changing the email address, and thus it is already in the user database.  I would try clicking on "Forgot Password" and see if Netgear will send a message to that email address offering to change the password.
