Trying to connect Tesla PowerWall

Powerwall won’t connect because it needs a 2.4ghz network. Any thoughts for a workaround?

How do you verify that phone is on 2.4Ghz?  

My router is connected to a local provider via a little modem connected to a microwave antenna.  I have connected many IoT 2.4 ghz successfully.

I have read several more Tesla articles about connecting the Gateway 1 to WiFi.

All of them mention

  • Connecting first to the Gateway itself using the credentials printed on the panel.
  • Telling the Gateway to scan for local WiFi networks.
  • Entering the WiFi password so that the Gateway can log into the local WiFi

This article specifically says that the Gateway does the searching.  It cannot become confused over 2.4G vs 5G because it has only a 2.4G radio in it.

 

The articles mention several times the need for "at least two bars" of WiFi strength.  Do you have a means to measure the WiFi signal strength at the PowerWall?

    I meet all the requirements. 5 bars of WiFi. When it tries to connect to my network, doesn’t ask for a password!?

    Every set of instructions I have found say that the user has to enter the WiFi password.

    I was a bit surprised to see this comment:

    On all of my WiFi devices, once I have entered a correct password once, the device remembers it and I never have to enter it again.  This helps when I visit someone who told me their WiFi password months ago.  Just walk in, select their WiFi, and it connects.  Can you make a screen shot of the error message that comes up (after more than five minutes)?  (Wouldn't it be a hoot if the PowerWall is already connected and just hides the information?)

     

    I like the idea of creating a temporary Hot Spot using a cell phone, as long as the cell phone creates a 2.4G Hot Spot.  That is what my Sony Xperia does.  Have no idea what frequency iPhone Hot Spots are.
