Unable to connect to Internet with additional router with ONT [Optical Network]
Hi,
I am currently owning a Orbi Wifi Mesh Network system RBR50 and would to understand the configurations/settings that i need to enable so that i can plugin orbi wifi mesh to existing router/modem from Genexis.
Please share the configurations or inputs on how to setup wifi mesh network with existing router with ONT.
Thanks,
Bhanu

Thousands of customers simply connect the WAN (yellow) Orbi port to the ISP modem and use the Orbi, never realizing that there might be "something different" about a modem/router than a modem. Depending on what IP subnet the Genexis is using, Orbi may set its subnet to 10.0.0.x rather than the typical 192.168.1.x
Having two routers creates a Double NAT situation which can interfere with specific applications, such as port forwarding, OpenVPN into the router from the internet, and certain internet gaming. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT If you do none of those things, then it has no effect on you.
Many users prefer to eliminate Double NAT by either:
- Putting the ISP device into 'bridge mode' so that the Orbi takes over as the only router, or
- Putting the Orbi into Access Point (AP) mode so that the ISP device is the only router.
