I can't update my system from the app and I get no updates when I log in. My system has not been updated in a year. Don't know if it updates automatically but my firmware ends at 18.

People frequently mention that the "app" does not perform updates correctly.
The solution is to use a web browser to connect to the Orbi web interface.
Navigate to the Advanced Tab->Administration->Firmware Update.
It should say that there is a firmware update to 2.3.5.30.
If it doesn't offer that version, you can go to the Orbi support web site and download that version for your router and satellite and perform a manal update.
While a year seems like a long time, if you are not having any problems with the Orbi, you may not need to update the firmware. "If it works, don't break it."
Note: If your firmware version is 2.2.1.210 or lower, you must first update to version 2.2.1.212 using the manual method.
This may be the reason the app cannot be used to update.
