No idea what uverse is, so I don't have it :-) (I'm in the U.K.)
beam forming and MIMO are off. I have Sonos. But it is on channel 11 and Orbi is on 1. Power on 2.4 set to 25%.
router and satellite may not be 40 ft apart. I will probably try moving it up a floor tomorrow. Everything has been rebooted and reset multiple times. I'm constrained by where the copper enters the building and the depth of the house.

yup correct location is the key here , too close and the clients will get confused , too far apart and the clients may disconnect in the middle

Been using latest version for 24 hours and still getting iOS disconnections. Lost patience now. Seriously considering google wifi now it's available in the UK. I'll put up with slower speed for greater reliability, as the orbi at present is unusable (for me)

I was just going to say. Got rid of google wifi after their first major outage. Now they just recently had a second. It has to check in all the time. If google is down so is your wifi. No thanks. Plus speeds were not good if you gave gigabit internet.
Have yiu you turned off the satellite and just tried the main router. Any disconnects?
or when it's all up. Try the free Netspot for mac/windows or telstra wi-if Maximiser for the iPad. And see if you have good coverage where you are.
try this. My ipads wifi was turning off when it slept. And this fixed that. Seems be an ongoing issues with iPads.
Restart the iPad after renewing your IP address or resetting the Wi-Fi network settings. To restart the iPad, hold down the "Sleep/Wake" button. When the red slider appears, slide it to turn off the device. Hold the "Sleep/Wake" button again to turn on the iPad.
Also if you are using WEP. Stop and switch to WPA. WEP can cause disconnects.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering taking the Orbi back. Very annoying. Might look at the linksys or the new tp-link mesh. (Though I don't think that's in the UK yet)

lol good luck with tp link , knowing these mesh systems pretty well now i would suggest you leave tp link well alone at least for the first 6 months
