Upgrading from 1.12.0.18 to 2.0.0.76?

I got RBK50 (1 satellite) on Thanksgiving from Best Buy. Out of the box it had 1.12.0.18. I immediately uppgraded to 2.0.0.74 but I started to run into a lot of issues already widely documented in the forum. In the end, I downgraded back to 1.12.0.18 and stablized my setup somewhat with the following config:

  • Orbi router is in AP mode, I have an external DSL modem to act as router instead. Wifi on DSL router disabled.
  • From DSL modem, I assign static IP's to Orbi router and satellite.
  • I disable implicit beamforming and MU-MIMO on Orbi router.
  • I manually assign 2.4GHz and 5GHz different SSID's.

With this, I do not see my iPhone switching between bands anymore and wifi seems stable. However I still see that from time to time, my wifi network becomes real slow for a min or 2 (I verify it back running speedtest_cli when that happens), although it eventually recovers. I am suspecting that it is the intermittent disconnect issues many people are complaining now.

Should I upgrade to 2.0.0.76 (or 2.0.0.74) now, while keeping the same config to see if it makes a difference?

  • Apologies for hijacking your thread, but...where are you seeing 2.0.0.76 available? I’m looking for that,   but I keep only being shown 2.0.0.74

.76 is a beta, and only available to fix the KRACK vunerability.  No other changes.  It cannot be received via auto-update.

Ok, thanks for that. I keep watching for the Circle integration with the Orbi, and was hoping that this Beta might include that.
