Use of Ethernet ports on Orbi RBR50 satellite?
Hi,
I have an Orbi 50 router and one satellite.
The router is connected to the network.
I have an ethernet port in a room with the Orbi satellite.
Is there any advantage to having the satellite connected to the ethernet network in the house?
Thanks.

The big advantage for those fortunate to have decent ethernet cabling throughout the house is that the backhaul can run at a full gigabit connection rate. Although the Orbi advertises a theoretical 5G backhaul rate of 1333mb, that is seldom achieved in practice. With the satellite roughly 30ft away and the 5G WiFi signal having to penetrate several walls, few people see that rate. Also, WiFi has inherent "overhead" which is not present on ethernet connections.
Will this make a practical difference? Probably not, as whatever backhaul rate the Orbi gets is probably higher than the customer's internet connection. As more people subscribe to gigabit internet, of course, that becomes less likely.
