Verizon FiOS offering Orbi Wifi
I saw a TV ad a few days ago then I saw this:

Interesting that Verizon will provide updates and not directly from netgear. My guess is they stripped down the user interface and just run the Orbi in AP mode.

Some ISPs setup HW from router mfrs and then develop and use there own FW and software on them. They handle all of the support and updates for there HW they get from router Mfrs.
As bad (long delays) as Verizon is with passing on cell phone manufacturer's OS updates, I sure as heck wouldn't want them doing my router updates.
