Despite this being a Netgear community post, can you give me a router name that does do what I need?I was incorrect about NordVPN. A basic account supports six devices.
There are a number of VPN clients that can be installed as a replacement for the manufacturer firmware.
ExpressVPN, for example, has a list on this page:
NordVPN's list is here:

Internet searches will turn up lots of possibilities. (i.e. "Best VPN router" or something similar)
BUT.... BUT..... As far as having some devices use the VPN and others not use it, I have a premonition that no residential class router will do this.

Oh, dear. Orbi cannot do what you want.
Netgear routers include OpenVPN host capability, to allow devices in the internet to access the local LAN. It does not support VPN client.
The intention is to allow the owner to "get into" the local LAN when not physically attached to the LAN. I use OpenVPN, for example, to administer my Orbi remotely. People who host web or content servers often use VPN to manage them.
There is third party software for the RBR50 model that does support two versions of VPN client (OpenVPN and WireGuard). My impression is that setting a router in VPN client mode forces all internet traffic through the VPN.
What you want makes a lot of sense. My guess is that the only solution open to you is to subscribe to a 'package' deal that gives you more client licenses. (Do I remember correctly that NordVPN starts with 5?)
Sorry.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
