If CAT5, or possible bad cable could cause some problems if not working well.
What is the Mfr and model # of this switch?
Try this, turn OFF the one wireless RBS and leave the wired RBS connected. Does the problem still happen?

Is there a SF or SG in the model name of that switch? I see if its SF then speeds are rated at 100Mpbs while SG is rated for 1000Mbps.
Sounds like sonething between this room and the RBR is bad with last port used.

Yes, the complete Model # is SG1008D - its a Gigabit switch.
Update - everything worked through the night without incident.
So, contrary to by initial hypothesis, it seems like it was the port I was using in the room.
As usual, it was the most obvious, non-technical thing. Couldn't see that.
