Work VPN Being Throttled
Currently Using Netgear Orbi RBR50v2, Firmware V2.7.4.24 on a home network. I use a VPN for work and when I'm directly connected to my modem, I'm able to pull 170+ on the download when connected to ...

Big-IP Edge Client is my VPN, but I don't think that is what is throttling my connection. When I connect direct to my modem (ethernet connection) and use my VPN, I get over 150MB/s down. When I'm on the Orbi, I'm getting 8.86 down and 8.86 up.

Start simple and get complicated if it doesn't work.

So it didn't work. XB7 is now in bridge mode. Hardwired to the Orbi, not on VPN, I'm only getting about 150 down. When I'm wireless to the Orbi, not on VPN, I'm getting over 300 down. Hardwired to the Orbi on VPN, 8.86 down. Wireless to the Orbi, also 8.86 down.
Is it just me or do Orbis have a shelf life of a couple of years? I had to replace my previous Orbis I bought 4 years ago with this current set 2 years ago. Seems like every two years I'm having to replace the Orbi set.
I'm at a loss at what to do now.

Oh also, just a side tidbit, I have a second modem on site that work gave me when I originally move to work from home about 7 years ago, and when I'm on the VPN hardwired, I'm getting about 75 down, which is normal for that modem because it's only provisioned with 75 MB speed.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.
I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release.

I did a factory reset at the beginning of this attempt at fixing my issue. I have not however done one since I put the modem in bridge mode. I honestly don't know if that would solve the issue considering the speeds haven't changed at all since the bridge mode setup. I will however attempt this and see how it goes.

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Try the ISP modem in router mode then configure AP mode on the RBR:

I've used multiple ethernet cables. Brand new and older ones. All have the same effect. I'll tool around with AP mode later.

The point of the reset is that the bridged modem has changed.
When you set up a router it negotiates a connection with the modem and adapts its settings accordingly.
The modem/router is a very different animal when put it into bridge mode.
So a reset and new setup makes sense, including a network restart in the required order.
You lose nothing and could gain the earth.
