One requirement for allowing connections from the internet to a device on the local network is that the router that has the public IP address must accept those connections and pass them through.  It is very common for internet subscribers to have a device from the Internet Service Provider that is a combination modem/router/(and even WiFi) device.  When they connect their own Orbi WiFi system to the ISP device, there are now "two routers".  (This is often called a "Double NAT" situation.)

There are many ways to check for this.  One is to compare the IP address that shows up in one of the "What is my IP?" web sites, such as https://whatismyipaddress.com with the IP address that appears on the Orbi router information page, either:

• On the Orbi 'app on the "Router Settings", "Internet Settings" panel, or
• On the Orbi web interface, Advanced Tab home page, on the "Internet Port"

If these IP addresses are the same, then the Orbi router is connected directly to the internet.  If they are different, then this is definitely a "Double NAT".
