AC779S firmware "update" to allow docking with DC112A docking cradle
Hi all,
After finding out that I can use my Aircard 779S with the DC112A, I have docked it tonight, but the aircard does not "give up" its hotspot to the docking cradle. To provide more detail, here's what the manual states:
When the Smart Cradle detects your mobile hotspot’s Internet connection, the Internet
LED lights green and the Smart Cradle uses the mobile hotspot’s Internet connection.
The mobile hotspot must have an active Internet service account.
When your mobile hotspot detects that it is docked, the mobile hotspot LCD and home
page indicate that it is docked in the Smart Cradle. The mobile hotspot uses the Smart
Cradle’s more powerful internal 3G/4G antennas for better network coverage and
charges itself through the Smart Cradle.
The mobile hotspot disables its WiFi signal so that you can connect to the Smart Cradle’s
stronger WiFi signal.
Note: Some hotspots require a firmware update before they automatically
disable WiFi when docked. If your mobile hotspot broadcasts its WiFi
signal when docked, manually set up your mobile hotspot to disable
WiFi.
So, I would appreciate those who use or have used this combination (or any similar aircard) to let me know where I can find a firmware update for my AC779S that I can manually apply.
Thanks for your help!
Rob

Hello bobnmona
All Firmware comes from your ISP on this device so no manual updates for it. You may want to contact your ISP for support on this.

Same issue here. Just got my cradle and attempted to use it with the hotspot. Cradle never picks up an IP address. I checked that the hotspot works fine when connected to a computer to validate that the USB port works fine and it does. Also, if I set the hotspot to turn off wifi when connected to a computer it disables the wifi when it is docked. It also charges when on the dock. This does seem to be a firmware issue either on the cradle or the hotspot. There may also be a config in the advanced setup on the hotspot that allows/disallows cradle attachment. I can't see it though because I don't have the MSL code to access the advanced screens. Can aynone here confirm whether that setting exists?
