Can the Netgear MR5100 5G Hotspot be used with any cellular provider?

Greetings,

I have a Netgear MR5100 5G hotspot purchased for use on AT&Ts celluar network/hotspot plan and I'm looking to move from AT&T to another cellular provider (aka Verizon). 

Can this hotspot be used on Verizon's celluar network? 

Does it first need to be unlocked by AT&T and/or is it as simple as placing a Verizon SIM card for a hotspot data plan into the MR5100 (possibly because they MR5100 hotspots are unlocked by default)?
