CM500 connects only 100mb to PC or Netgear router.

A bad Ethernet cable can cause this.

Three separate cables used, two brand new from the boxes of the units and one connected Gigabit earlier.
- It's rare but occasionally two devices can fail to negotiate to run at 1 Gbps. Netgear doesn't provide any user settings to control this. I've seen people successfully use an Ethernet switch in between. Normally, you should never put a switch between a modem and router, but this is one exception.
Seeing as you returned everything, I would not worry about this happening again. As I said, it's rare for this to happen.
