Competing dev and support teams within Netgear, at the cost of the customer
I have long doubted between the AC810 and MR1100, even with poor Netgear support experience in the past, still decided to go for the MR1100, in the vain believe that the MR1100 had an active support with updated firmware releases.
Then... when I actually got the MR1100 and finally was able to setup and try the unit, it was just one big disappointment,
the claim that it can do both 2.4Gh and 5Gh Wifi disappears when you enable offloading;
the unit is incapable to keep SSIDs when changing config settings, and at every change an extra change is needed to rename the SSIDs back to what you want and remove "-5G" unnecessary suffixed;
The cumbersome manner to turn on/off offloading, is freaking rediculous, with a complete re-setup of nearly all settings.;
Finding the remarkbale situation that is has a FW version (12.06.12) installed that is nowhere documented nor described;
When looking back at the complete different, and more capable interface of the AC810, it suddenly strucks...
within Netgear there are competing teams who at the cost of the customer are:
unwilling to repond to questions on FW states, releases and functions;
unwilling to publish actual reliability states of their FW deliveries;
do not cooperate together to deliver consistent functioning FW.
Then the App... lets not get into that! Useless! still need to get into the webinterface to be able to set required settings!
(Internal) Politics are clearly more important than providing decent FW and even to communicate with customers, who pay to keep Netgear alive!
