Dual WAN or Failover Setup on NETGEAR Orbi AX4200 (RBK752) with Fiber and 4G Connections
Hello everyone,
I am currently using a NETGEAR AX5400 Orbi (RBK762S) and I have a unique connectivity scenario that I need assistance with.
I have a fiber internet connection delivered through a router provided by my ISP (Orange), named Livebox. Additionally, I have been provided a portable WIFI router that connects to the 4G/LTE network for temporary internet access whenever the fiber connection is interrupted.
I am exploring the possibility of setting up a dual WAN or failover configuration on my Orbi router to ensure seamless internet connectivity. The idea is to have both the fiber and 4G networks configured on the Orbi router, so when one connection is interrupted or unavailable, the other takes over to maintain internet connectivity.
I am aware that certain Orbi models support WAN aggregation, (like the Orbi AX4200 (RBK752), please confirm if i'm correct) and some users have had success with external load balancing routers for similar setups. However, I am keen on understanding if there’s a native solution or a proven workaround specific to the Orbi AX4200 (RBK752) model.
- Is it possible to set up dual WAN or failover functionality on the Orbi AX4200 (RBK752) to switch between the fiber and 4G connections automatically?
- If WAN aggregation is a viable solution, will it provide a seamless transition between the two connections in case of an interruption?
- Are there any additional hardware or configuration recommendations to achieve this setup?

Netgear's LTE routers, including the NBK752 package indeed have a failover feature which allows simultaneous connection to a conventional Internet Service Provider (ISP) and a 5G LTE provider. It comes in versions specific to region (North America, Europe):

I do not see any mention of load sharing, which would seem to indicate that the router uses only one internet connection at any given time.
The NBK752 package would eliminate the need for an additional router, but would probably be considerably more expensive than adding one. ($1,100US on Amazon vs.under $200 for a separate router.) There may be limitations on which LTE connections are supported.

No, the Orbi 760 router does not support multiple WAN connections. The solution is to connect the RBR760 to a router which does support (a) multiple WAN connections, and (b) load-balancing or fail over.

Thank you for your reply. Are all Orbi devices the same? Can't I achieve this for example with the 5G supporting router
NETGEAR Orbi NBK752? I like Orbi products, that's kinda disappointing...
I'm trying to avoid to have multiple devices on my network just to manage something like this. Having your ISP's router + the 4G router + another one to manage failovers + your Orbi and it's satelites looks literally too much to have to me.
