External antenna recommendations for MR1100 and MR2100
Hi,
I've been testing my MR2100 today with a Poynting XPOL1 Omni directional antenna, and the results whilst okay, weren't spectular. In two out of the three sites both my iPhone XR and my iPhone 11 Pro were reporting faster download and upload performance that either the Netgear alone or with the Antenna attached (that might be down to the phone sim contract 4G+ on the 11 Pro but I didn't think I had coverage in today's test areas, and PAYG on the netgear sim, so I presume standard LTE max on that SIM)
My intended use case is providing a couple internet sources for live streaming 5 hour long sports events so it is the upload speed that I'm looking to maximise, these are taking place at 15 different rural locations in the UK and I'm expecting in the main to be able to access bands 3 and 20, although I may be able to reach the occasional band 1 and 7 cell towers (8, 32, 38 and 40 are also covered but I don't think they'll meet our performance requirements.)
Essentially I will be taking an ethernet source from one MR1100 (So I can lock bands - the MR2100 firmware doesn't seem to support this yet) and WiFi from a second MR1100, along with 2/4 SIMs from different carriers in a Liveu bonded cellular encoder so I can ensure I a steady connection with enough bandwidth to stream high quality video. The MR2100 will just be resevered for general home use/back up/paperweight for me.
I'm looking for the best external antennas for those bands on a MR1100 (and MR2100), any suggestions? I'd prefer Omni for ease of set up at different locations as my video production crew will be handling set up, but if directional is significantly better I could train them how to do that.
Thank you and best regards,
Steve
