If you've already got gigabit (ish) download speeds and 100mbps + upload, you probably won't see much difference to 8gig.
Reason why is most devices are gigabit any can't saturate anymore than those speeds anyway.
And gaming/streaming (even in 4K) only needs 25-50mbps per stream.
You might seem some slightly lower ping but we're not talking night and day difference.
The money to switch to 8gig (routers/switches/cost for the service) would probably be better put to hardwiring in their gaming/streaming rigs.
Are you finding that you saturate a gigabit connection?
- FibrenetworkingMay 11, 2022TutorThanks - I had similar thoughts - we had hard wiring and wifi upgrade before Covid and the boys plugged in their gaming computers! We have poor phone reception and I wanted to run my mobile over wifi at home too.

What router/satellites do you have?
What size is your home and what are the interior walls made of?

Hi,
Internet set up above.
Wifi wouldn't throw from a central hub hence Unify system wired and wifi system spread across the house (4 levels running down the side of the volcano - mainly stud walls but between 3 and 4 and study concrete slabs.
Thanks for the help - we are going to stick with current system until wifi 7 is up and running.
Thanks
