Firmware error
Firmware error, why can’t I update the firmware???
That procedure would not work for many modem/routers discussed here as there is no support for firmware downloads for carrier labeled devices. We still need to know more detail on which device he has.

Netgear does not provide support, including firmware, for ISP badged devices.
Anyone with one of those should seek help from the ISP.
