Not to Hijack thread but I am also having one of the mentioned issues.

I can check for updates at times but I don't think I've ever been able to Manually Update Firmware as the Upload area does not appear.

 

I've got the:

MR1100-1A1NAS

AT&T Version

I just seen your post mention that it's locked to AT&T ... Bum!  I bought this 2.5 years ago supposedly "Unlocked".
