hotwire

i have hotwire fiber optic.  my internet is connected to my wall via a usb cable.  this modem wants connection via coax cabale.  i plugged usb into one of the 4 slots but doesnt seem to work.

  • You're right. The C7000 is a coaxial modem. 

    It won't work connected via usb.

      Thank you for the information I appreciate it unfortunately there was no description on the product website stating it had to be coaxial is there a model but I can buy that would have a ethernet port to connect to

        if you're truly connected over ethernet and not via usb, then the R or RAX series are router only devices that should connect.

    Very unlikely. Somewhere is some fiber termination hardware in the house or apartment. Or we face some fiber outlet, or a RJ45 network port-

    Cable modem/routers can typically be used for installation on cable TV networks ... over coax cable. Nothing this router can help here.

    Hm, so it's probably some RJ45 - the C7000 does have four Gigabit network LAN (not WAN/Internet) ports. This wont help for your installation.

     

    In case it's the ISP linked above - on the fly I can't figure out what they install, what CPE or connection boxes are requied.
